Photograph requirements in Canada differ, depend on document.

The photos must be taken in person by a commercial photographer. The name of the photographer or studio, the complete address — street name and civic number (suite number, if applicable), town, postal code, and the date the photo was taken — must be provided directly on the back of one photo. This information should be stamped or handwritten by the photographer. Stick-on labels are unacceptable. Sufficient space must be allowed for the name of the applicant, the signature of the guarantor and the guarantor’s declaration.

The size of the photo must be 50 x 70 mm (2 inches wide X 23/4 inches long), your face (from your the chin to the crown of the head) must be between 31 mm (1 1/4 inches) and 36 mm (1 7/16 inches). Either black and white or colour photos are acceptable.

Applicant must show a neutral facial expression (no smiling, mouth closed) and look straight at the camera. The photos must show a full front view of the face and top of the shoulders squared to the camera (the image of the face and shoulders must be centered in the photo). The photos must be clear, sharp and in focus. Glare and shadows are unacceptable. The lighting must be uniform to avoid glare or shadows across the face or shoulders, around the ears or in the background. Photos must represent natural skin tones.

Eyes must be open and clearly visible. Photos with the red eye effect or red eye alterations are unacceptable.  Prescription eyeglasses may be worn as long as the eyes are clearly visible and there is no reflection or glare on the eyeglasses. Sunglasses and tinted eyeglasses are unacceptable.

The photos must show a full head without any head covering, unless it is worn for religious beliefs or medical reasons. However, the head covering must not cast shadows on the face and the full face must be clearly visible. The head must not be tilted to the side.

Photos must show the child’s head and shoulders only. Parent’s or child’s hands must not appear in the photo. For newborn babies, the photo may be taken while the child is sitting in a car seat, as long as a white blanket is placed over the seat behind the child’s head. There must be no shadows on the face or shoulders, around the ears or in the background.

The photos must be taken against a plain white or light-coloured background with enough contrast between the background, facial features and clothing, so that the applicant’s features are clearly distinguishable against the background.

The photograph must have been taken in the last 6 months.

Photograph for Canada Passport or residence permit

The frame size must be at least 35 mm X 45 mm (1 3/8" X 1 3/4"). The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31 mm (1 1/4") and 36 mm (1 7/16"). Crown means the top of the head or (if obscured by hair or a head covering) where the top of the head or skull would be if it could be seen.

The face must be square to the camera with a neutral expression, neither frowning nor smiling, with the mouth closed. The photographs must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photograph, and include the top of the shoulders. Photographs may be either black and white or colour.

You may wear non-tinted prescription glasses as long as your eyes are clearly visible. Make sure that the frame does not cover any part of your eyes. Sunglasses are not acceptable.

If you must wear a head covering for religious reasons, make sure your full facial features are not obscured.

The photographs must be clear, well defined and taken against a plain white or light-coloured background.

The photographs must be identical and taken within the last six months.

Photograph for Canada Visa or Temporary Resident Visa

The photo must be 33mm (width) x 48mm (height).

The person must look into the camera, the face and head must be clearly visible. It is necessary to take a photo strictly from the front, and the person looks straight with a neutral facial expression, open eyes, closed mouth, ears should be visible. The face should be natural. There should be no visible distortion on the face. The photo should not contain foreign objects, such as a hand, a toy, or the face of another person. Head tilt ≤ 20° left or right and ≤ 25° up or down.

Hats or other head coverings are only allowed if worn for religious reasons and if they do not obscure any facial features.

Eyeglasses are allowed in the photo only if the lenses are not tinted and there is no glare, shadows, or frames obscuring the eyes.

The photo should have no damage or impurities, no background or shadow over face. There should not be over- or under-exposure. The face should be centered in the photo with all the features clearly visible and natural skin tone. The inter-eye distance should be > 60 pixels.

The head width should be between 15mm and 22mm and the head heigh, measured from the base of the chin to the crown of the head, should be between 28 mm and 33 mm. The space between the crown and the upper edge of the photo should be between 3 mm and 5 mm. The space between the chin and the bottom edge of the photo should be ≥ 7 mm.

The background of the photo should be white or close to white with no borders around the edge of the image.

The photo should be recent, taken within 6 months.

Document photo requirements in Estonia are the same for all types of documents:

The file size for the document photo must be between 1MB and 5MB. The dimensions of the photo must be at least 1,300 × 1,600 pixels.

The photo must be provided as a file, submitting a scanned photograph, or a screenshot of a computer screen or a mobile phone screen, is not allowed.

The photograph must be a colour photograph and unedited.

Look straight into the camera, the eyes must be level (head should not be tilted).The face must be in the centre of the photograph.

The person on the photograph should not wear headwear or headphones.

The eyes must be visible from behind the spectacle frames and glasses may not reflect light.

The child must look straight into the camera and the mouth must be closed. Big hair adornments and extraneous objects (like toys) should be avoided in the photograph.

Background should be light and of single colour, without extraneous objects (including patterns).

The photograph taken by yourself shall not be older than six months.

Document photo requirements in France are the same for all types of documents except visa, visa requirements are more strict:

Photo size 35 x 45 mm. A color photo is highly recommended.

The person should look directly into the camera, with a neutral facial expression and a closed mouth. The face should be sharp and clear, the eyes should be clearly visible and open. The hair should not cover the face (the bangs do not cover the eyes), the ears are visible.

The photo must be clear and free of damage or defects. The photo must not be underexposed or overexposed, with the correct contrast. The photo should not have shadows on the face or background.

The face should cover 70 - 80% of the photo from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (excluding hair).

The photo must be taken without headgear (no hat, scarf or headband).

If you have glasses, you don't have to wear them in the photos. On the other hand, if you wear them, then the frame should not be thick and not cover your eyes.

The background should be solid, light in color (for example, light blue or light gray). White background is prohibited.

The photograph must show you facing square on to the camera, not looking over one shoulder (portrait style) or tilted, and showing both edges of your face clearly. You must be alone (no chair back, toys or other people visible), looking at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed. Keep your eyes open and clearly visible - no hair across your eyes.

The photo must be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflection on your face and no red eye. The photograph must be in sharp focus and clear, have appropriate brightness and contrast with color neutral. It must be of high quality with no ink marks or creases. Photographs must be printed on photo-quality paper.

Close up of your head and top your shoulders so that you face takes up70-80% of photograph. Look directly at the camera. Show your eyes open and clearly visible-no hair across your eyes.

Document photo requirements in Germany are the same for all types of documents:

Photo size 35 x 45 mm. The photo can be black and white or color.

The person should look directly into the camera, with a neutral facial expression, the face should be clearly visible. The face should be evenly lit. There should be no red eyes. The photo should only show a person (there are no other people or objects in the picture). The photo should not show the uniform.

The photo should be neutral in color and naturally reflect skin tones. The photo should not be damaged or defective, there should not be a source of light and shadows on the face in the background. The photo (especially if it was taken with a digital camera) must be on high-quality paper with a print resolution of at least 600 dpi.

The face should occupy 70 - 80% of the photo. With lush hair, you need to try to fit your head completely, but at the same time, the face should occupy the same 70-80% of the photo.

The photo must be taken without head coverings. Head covering is allowed for religious beliefs and for medical reasons that are permanent.

Bristle is allowed if it does not prevent you from being recognized, but in order to avoid possible problems, make the photo shaved. The entire oval of the face and the line of the ears should be exposed. If you wear jewelry - they can be in the photo, the main thing is that they do not cover the oval of the face and do not disturb the uniform background of the photo, in order to avoid possible problems - take pictures without jewelry. If your medical condition does not allow you to meet these requirements, you may have your eyes closed, your mouth open, and an unnatural facial expression (such as smiling) in the photo.

If you wear a hat because your religion requires it - you can have it in the photo if your face is still visible. Then, attach to the application for an identity card or passport a certificate that confirms that you belong to a religious community (this applies only to communities registered in Poland). If you submit an application for evidence online - attach the decision in the form of an electronic document signed by the issuer or attach a scan of the decision and the original will be handed over to the official upon receipt of the document, the entire oval of the face and the line of the ears must be exposed.

Your child may have closed eyes, an open mouth, or an abnormal facial expression (such as smiling) the child&apos;s face must be open (not covered by hair or a toy), the child must hold their head straight, the background must be bright and uniform (no other people in the frame ).

If the applicant wears glasses, the photo must meet the following criteria: the lenses must not be tinted, the frame must not cover any part of the eye, and there must be no glare. If there is a photo without glasses in the foreign passport, then the photo attached to the visa must be without glasses.

Photo for Polish visa

Photo requirements for a Russian passport differ from the type of passport - by 5 or 10 years. For a passport for 10 years, you only need a photo for the application form, a passport photo is taken directly at the institution where the documents are submitted.

The size of the photo must be 35 x 45 mm, while the distance from the top of the head to the chin should not be more than 80 percent of the vertical frame. The free top field above the head should be 5 (+/-1) millimeters.

In the photo for the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, a person is depicted strictly from the front and looks straight with a neutral facial expression and a closed mouth. You can not take a photo in lenses that change the natural color of the eyes. Filters are not allowed. It is forbidden to be photographed in uniform. You can not be photographed in outerwear and scarves that cover part of the chin.

You can only take pictures with glasses without tinted lenses. In addition, the frame should not cover the eyes.

Children must be on their own in the picture. Babies must not be holding toys or using dummies. Children under 6 do not have to be looking directly at the camera or have a plain expression. Children under one do not have to have their eyes open. You can support their head with your hand, but your hand must not be visible in the photo.

Your photo must be taken against a plain cream or light grey background, be in clear contrast to the background.

The correct size of a passport photo is 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).

The head should be (25 - 35 mm) from chin to crown with a neutral facial expression and open eyes. The person must look directly into the camera. Use photos without filters. Photos with damage, scratches and holes will not be accepted. The photo must have been taken by someone else. Selfies don&apos;t fit. Photos in uniform or similar clothing or camouflage will not be accepted. Photos must be taken in casual clothes. Do not wear headphones or other wireless devices. Photo size must be 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).

The head should be (25 - 35 mm) from chin to crown. The photo must be in color. The face must be fully included in the photo. You need to look straight ahead, with a natural expression and open eyes. Take pictures in clothes that you wear every day. Uniforms should not be used in the photo, with the exception of religious clothing that is worn on a daily basis. The photo must not include headphones, wireless devices, or similar devices. Photos with hearing aids are allowed.

Glasses are no longer allowed in visa photos, unless glasses cannot be removed for medical reasons, in which case a signed medical certificate must be provided. If glasses are allowed for medical reasons:

Do not wear head covering that hides the hair or hairline, with the exception of religious head coverings which are worn daily. Your face must be fully visible, and the shadow of the head covering must not fall on your face.
