Passport photo requirements by country
Every country sets its own passport and visa photo rules, and they differ even between documents of the same country. The table below lists the official size and head-height rule for each country we cover — open a country for the full requirements, or make a compliant photo right away.

How to take a photo for ID yourself
Taking an ID photo yourself is quite simple. Modern mobile phones with a built-in camera take quite high-quality photos. If you cannot take a photo with your phone, you can use a digital camera. With document-photo.com you can create a photo online, completely free of charge. The whole process takes place on your device, without sending any data to a server.
With a smartphone
Open the home page. On the home page, find the “Take a photo” button and tap it.
Take a photo that meets the requirements. They can usually be found on the website of the authority you are taking the photos for. You can also find some of them on our website.
Select the country and the document for which you need photos. Depending on the choice, the template for the photo changes.
The photo is automatically positioned on the face. In the window with the photo, slightly move and scale it if needed so that the face matches the template.
Select the required number of photos of the person.
If you need to take another person's photo, you can add one more.
Select the photo paper size (the most common is 4×6 inches) and click “Generate photo for document”. A preview of how the photos will look on the photo paper will appear.
At the end, you can print the photo on your printer, or save the picture locally and print it at a friend's place or at a photo store.
On a computer
Take a photo with your camera and transfer the best shot to your computer.

Select the saved photo in the file open dialog that appears.
