The photo must be 33mm (width) x 48mm (height).

The person must look into the camera, the face and head must be clearly visible. It is necessary to take a photo strictly from the front, and the person looks straight with a neutral facial expression, open eyes, closed mouth, ears should be visible. The face should be natural. There should be no visible distortion on the face. The photo should not contain foreign objects, such as a hand, a toy, or the face of another person. Head tilt ≤ 20° left or right and ≤ 25° up or down.

Hats or other head coverings are only allowed if worn for religious reasons and if they do not obscure any facial features.

Eyeglasses are allowed in the photo only if the lenses are not tinted and there is no glare, shadows, or frames obscuring the eyes.

The photo should have no damage or impurities, no background or shadow over face. There should not be over- or under-exposure. The face should be centered in the photo with all the features clearly visible and natural skin tone. The inter-eye distance should be > 60 pixels.

The head width should be between 15mm and 22mm and the head heigh, measured from the base of the chin to the crown of the head, should be between 28 mm and 33 mm. The space between the crown and the upper edge of the photo should be between 3 mm and 5 mm. The space between the chin and the bottom edge of the photo should be ≥ 7 mm.

The background of the photo should be white or close to white with no borders around the edge of the image.

The photo should be recent, taken within 6 months.

Document photo requirements in Estonia are the same for all types of documents:

The file size for the document photo must be between 1MB and 5MB. The dimensions of the photo must be at least 1,300 × 1,600 pixels.

The photo must be provided as a file, submitting a scanned photograph, or a screenshot of a computer screen or a mobile phone screen, is not allowed.

The photograph must be a colour photograph and unedited.

Look straight into the camera, the eyes must be level (head should not be tilted).The face must be in the centre of the photograph.

The person on the photograph should not wear headwear or headphones.

Document photo requirements in France are the same for all types of documents except visa, visa requirements are more strict:

Photo size 35 x 45 mm. A color photo is highly recommended.

The person should look directly into the camera, with a neutral facial expression and a closed mouth. The face should be sharp and clear, the eyes should be clearly visible and open. The hair should not cover the face (the bangs do not cover the eyes), the ears are visible.

The photo must be clear and free of damage or defects. The photo must not be underexposed or overexposed, with the correct contrast. The photo should not have shadows on the face or background.

The face should cover 70 - 80% of the photo from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (excluding hair).

The photo must be taken without headgear (no hat, scarf or headband).

The photo must be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflection on your face and no red eye. Document photo requirements in Germany are the same for all types of documents:

The person should look directly into the camera, with a neutral facial expression, the face should be clearly visible. The face should be evenly lit. There should be no red eyes. The photo should only show a person (there are no other people or objects in the picture). The photo should not show the uniform.

Photograph requirements in Kazakhstan looks similar and based on ICAO standards.

A photograph size should be as follows: height 45 mm, width 35 mm. A photo should clearly depict facial features from lower point of chin and up to crown of the head, and also from far-left line of face to the right one. Face should occupy 70-80 % of photograph, which makes 32-36 mm from lower point of chin to crown of the head.

A photograph should be contrastive and vivid. All facial features should be depicted clearly. When taking a photograph, illumination of face should be even. Avoid lightening or darkening of certain areas of a face, as well as the effect of red eyes. Illumination should be in natural colour; colour such as blue or red is not allowed.

A photo (especially when taken with a digital camera) should be printed (in case of being printed on a paper sheet) on high-quality matte paper with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.A photo should contain neutral colours and convey a natural skin tone. There should be no bends, dirt or scratches on a photo. Art retouching and other manipulations are not allowed. A lens should correspond to a short telephoto lens of 90-130 mm relative to a camera.

No head bends and rotations are allowed (for example, photo with half-profile). A person should look straight into a camera, have neutral countenance and closed mouth. A person should not narrow his/her eyes or gawp. A picture is made from the front, not from ahead, from below or sideways. A person should look straight into a camera. Eyes should be open and clearly visible. They should not be hidden by hair.

No headwear is allowed when taking photographs. Exception is only allowed if headwear is part of religious believes. In this case, a face should be open from lower chin line up to forehead. Shadows from headwear are not allowed.

Eyes should be clearly visible. No light reflections and sunglasses are allowed. Exception is only provided for an eyeshade due to medical reasons. Eyeglass frame should not hide eyes.

The background should be sole coloured and light, it is recommended to use a gray background, it is not recommended to use a blue background. A face and hair should contrast with the background and stand out clearly from it. If a person has light hair, then the background should be medium tones of gray, and if it is dark, then light gray. No drawings and patterns are allowed on the background.  photo should only contain an image of person being photographed (no unauthorized persons or objects are allowed). There should also be no shadows.

Face should occupy 50-80 % of photograph, i.e. 22-36 mm from lower point of chin to crown of the head; if a child has thick hair, mind that distance from the lower point of chin to crown of the head should comply with requirements; if it is hard to determine the highest point of head than it is allowed that height would be no less than 17 mm and no more than 40 mm. This section stipulates deviations from the rules for taking photographs of children in the "Children" section for children under 6 years old, regarding the position of the head (the requirements for the frontal position of the head and shoulders remain valid), countenance, eyes, direction of gaze , as well as regarding the location of a face in the center of a photo.

If your medical condition does not allow you to meet these requirements, you may have your eyes closed, your mouth open, and an unnatural facial expression (such as smiling) in the photo.

If you wear a hat because your religion requires it - you can have it in the photo if your face is still visible. Then, attach to the application for an identity card or passport a certificate that confirms that you belong to a religious community (this applies only to communities registered in Poland). If you submit an application for evidence online - attach the decision in the form of an electronic document signed by the issuer or attach a scan of the decision and the original will be handed over to the official upon receipt of the document, the entire oval of the face and the line of the ears must be exposed.

If you wear corrective glasses - they can be in the photo, if your eyes are clearly visible and the lenses do not reflect light, if you wear contact lenses - you can be in them in the photo, the main thing is that they do not change the natural shape and color of your eyes, if you have congenital or acquired visual defects, you may have dark glasses in the photo. Then, attach a certificate of disability or degree of disability to the application for an identity card or passport. If you are applying for evidence online, attach the decision in the form of an electronic document signed by the issuer, or attach a scan of the decision and hand over the original to the official upon receipt of the evidence.

Your child may have closed eyes, an open mouth, or an abnormal facial expression (such as smiling) the child&apos;s face must be open (not covered by hair or a toy), the child must hold their head straight, the background must be bright and uniform (no other people in the frame ).

Photo for Polish visa

Photo requirements for a Russian passport differ from the type of passport - by 5 or 10 years. For a passport for 10 years, you only need a photo for the application form, a passport photo is taken directly at the institution where the documents are submitted.

The size of the photo must be 35 x 45 mm, while the distance from the top of the head to the chin should not be more than 80 percent of the vertical frame. The free top field above the head should be 5 (+/-1) millimeters.

In the photo for the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, a person is depicted strictly from the front and looks straight with a neutral facial expression and a closed mouth. You can not take a photo in lenses that change the natural color of the eyes. Filters are not allowed. It is forbidden to be photographed in uniform. You can not be photographed in outerwear and scarves that cover part of the chin.

Photo size must be 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm).

The head should be (25 - 35 mm) from chin to crown. The photo must be in color. The face must be fully included in the photo. You need to look straight ahead, with a natural expression and open eyes. Take pictures in clothes that you wear every day. Uniforms should not be used in the photo, with the exception of religious clothing that is worn on a daily basis. The photo must not include headphones, wireless devices, or similar devices. Photos with hearing aids are allowed.

Glasses are no longer allowed in visa photos, unless glasses cannot be removed for medical reasons, in which case a signed medical certificate must be provided. If glasses are allowed for medical reasons:

Do not wear head covering that hides the hair or hairline, with the exception of religious head coverings which are worn daily. Your face must be fully visible, and the shadow of the head covering must not fall on your face.
