Applying for an Irish passport? Passport Online takes a digital photo you can take at home — a JPEG of at least 715 × 951 px, up to 9 MB — and the paper form takes 4 identical printed photos, 35 × 45 to 38 × 50 mm. Both show you from head to mid torso. Make either one here.

Yes. Take a photo against a plain, evenly lit background and upload it — the position, zoom, brightness and contrast can be adjusted afterwards.
Ireland's passport photo guidelines cover more than size. The background must be completely plain — light grey, white or cream — with enough contrast. Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed. If you wear glasses, your eyes must be clearly visible with no glare on the lenses. Head coverings are allowed only for religious or medical reasons, with your face fully visible. The photo must have been taken within the last 6 months.
